Very often, the deadliest damage during a bomb blast is from shattered windows – the shards of glass transformed into lethal, high-speed projectiles. Explosion proofing glass protection systems are regarded by industry experts as one of the most effective forms of explosion protection.
Spider Wire’s glass protection system comprises two elements:
Spider Wire will apply a specialised blast protection film over the building’s glass. The laminate prevents the actual glass from shattering and detaching during a blast.
In order for the glass protection system to be fully effective, Spider Wire would additionally apply an anchoring system to the glass frame and/or building structure so as to prevent the entire panel from coming out of the frame and causing massive damage.
For existing buildings: Aluminium most often used to secure a building’s window frames is very flimsy, and constitutes a severe danger during a blast. However, Spider Wire’s energy-absorbing steel “Catch Cables” will anchor the frame into the building’s structure. This prevents the glass from coming out of the frame, thereby alleviating the danger.
For new constructions: If you are building a new structure, Spider Wire will design specialised frames made from a heavy-duty material that we will anchor into the building’s structure. This will hold glass in place without the need for cables.
Glass protection systems protect government buildings, banks, airport terminals, embassies, and other high-risk facilities.
• Spider Wire’s glass protection systems can be retrofit to almost any existing structure.
• There is seldom any need for maintenance.
